YYI Community Centre, Dundee
Facilities

The YYI community Centre will cater for a variety of different needs from a multi-purpose sports hall, private rooms, crèche facilities, internet café, canteen and much much more. The Community Centre will be open for all with a special attention towards the Muslim Community. Dedicated times and activities will be arranged for females.

Multi-purpose sports hall

The centre will provide a dedicated sports hall for individual/group bookings. In addition, YYI will organise regular sporting competitions on a local and national level e.g. Parents/Son football competitions, kabaadi, Scottish volleyball/basketball tournaments, Badminton and so much more

Internet Café

The centre will also hold a dedicated area with internet facilities. So, whether you're at university and want to catch up on research or just want to surf the net, YYI will be able to best serve your needs. In addition, if you are computer illiterate, YYI will also arrange computer classes for all ages

Canteen

The centre will serve hot and cold snacks with varied multicultural delicacies. The community centre will provide for all those who want to have an enjoyable meal in a relaxing environment. As a special treat YYI will also organise 'themed nights' from our diverse community backgrounds

Library/Bookshop

Due to popular demand the community centre will provide the first dedicated Islamic Bookshop/library. Books, clothing and other merchandise will be available to cater for the needs of the community.

The above plans are still in draft and can be altered with consultation with the management team. The first phase will provide all the ground floor facilities and in the future plans would be made to erect a second floor. The upper floor would have the following facilities.

Evening Arabic/Islamic Studies Classes

The classes would be focussed around the 5-15 age groups in teaching Islamic studies and Arabic. The classes will also accompany their secular education in providing out of school homework classes and tuition on subjects they may find difficult

YYI Youth Club

The Youth Club will have a base to run its weekly circles for boys aged 8-14 and 14+. The youth club will extend to females and separate arrangements will be made to run their circles. The educational circles focus on a number of important issues including religious and contemporary discussions.

Mum's Time out Classes

An ideal time for mum's to focus on themselves to learn various skills and gain essential knowledge. Classes on tajweed, Urdu, Arabic, computing, sewing would be arranged.
